Ready For the Holidays
“I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.” – E.B. White
This is my favorite time of the year, not only for being outdoors, but indoors as well. To get your home ready for the holidays, and to enjoy it as much as possible during this beautiful season, here are my favorite ideas for staying organized, so decorating and entertaining are effortless.

Remember to keep table ornaments simple; you don’t want guests at a loss for what to do with their place holders, so insure there is ample room to move décor to the side.
Decorating your home in layers for the fall season makes for an elegant All Hallow’s Eve and seamless Thanksgiving; begin with autumn decorations in early October, then add a few Halloween elements for the end of the month. Halloween items can be quickly packed away afterwards, but you can leave everything else out for Thanksgiving, when you can add some more unique décor. Always strive for quality in decorating, never quantity.
Don’t spend unnecessarily on Halloween and Thanksgiving themes. Focus instead on fall in general, but splurge on a few choice pieces for your collection that will provide a significant presence when you bring them out. This saves you space, time and money.

Unusual gourds and squashes not only make for unique displays, but they can last for months. Simply keep in a cool, dry area away from the sun.
